Hard Training to the Library

Tommy and I are training by going to the bank, post office, library, etc. The places are about 5 miles away so we are up to 10 miles easily. It's not hard at all for me to do with the awesome bikes we have now. Well this past Monday, Jacob and Susan, our younger siblings wanted to go to the library and wanted to bike there. So we got out bikes that  we thought were ok for them and started out. We got 300 yards away from the house and Jacob’s tire was a little flat. Tommy had attached a pump to his bike. The pump came in handy and 5 minutes later we were on our way again. Susan had an old mountain bike that she had used in the past to go to the park right across the street from our house, but going 5 miles was another story. To make this short, the gears on the Mountain bike didn't work. The gear that it was stuck on was horrid. (We are very very thankful to have 2 good bikes to use on the trip.) Tommy relieved Susan on the Mt. Bike and went down the power lines instead and beat us to the library. We thought it would be rough on the other bikes and stayed on the road. However on the way back we all took the shortcut and made it home a little faster. Tommy said after coming home, "If I didn’t have a good bike for the trip after the first day I would of stopped and bought a bike on the spot… That was ridiculous." We are very thankful that God has provided us with amazing bikes. The Mountain bike will probably be scrapped! :) Some of the family said, " well that’s  one way you could train. After a day of hard work and having to put everything you've  got into it to just get 2 feet you will have no problem doing 30 miles a day." We will stick with our good bikes for training. :) Through this experience we have become very thankful for what we have. Hope you enjoy the pictures of the trail we took down the power lines as a short cut!
