August Update

Our family has been very busy. Sorry that we have not updated you in a while. 2 weeks ago for 10 days I slept in a tree fort on an army cot as some family friends were at our house. It was a sneak peak at not sleeping in my extra plush bed in the house. It was lots of fun, especially with the Air Conditioning . I kept thinking that it would be great if we could have AC in the tent while  on the bike trip. Well God is so cool in knowing what you're thinking because we have upgraded from tents and sleeping bags on the ground to a motor-home. Our family has been blessed by a couple in our church that has lent us their pop-up motor home. We are going camping in a viking while biking! Air Conditioning and queen size beds YEA! On Monday, July 30, some of my family went to Washington, D.C. to visit the Smithsonian. Tommy and Jacob definitely got their exercise in. We took a bus from Phillie to D.C. and then went back on a bus and had to catch the train from Phillie to Trenton to get home. The bus made 2 stops that were not planned and we were running a little behind schedule. We had exactly 7 minutes when the bus stopped. We had to run into the train station across the street and buy the tickets to come home and hop on the train all within 7 minutes. Jacob (our younger brother) purchased a bow and arrow at the Smithsonian gift shop that was in the Native American History Museum. They waited for it as I ran ahead across the street and got in line with 2 people in front of me to purchase the tickets. We had only 3 minutes left and I kept looking to see if  the guys were coming. They came running and almost went to the wrong track. I furiously signed the receipt, which looked nothing like my signature, and ran down the stairs to catch the train. I was so nervous.  As I glanced up at the clock on the train deck, our trained pulled up to the station and within the minute pulled away down the track. The train was late by 1 minute. My heart was still pounding as we gave our tickets to the man on board collecting them. I was seated still catching my breath listening to Tommy tell me that they had to dodge traffic in the cross walk in order to get across the street on time. I laughed imagining them running across the street with a bow and arrow charging for the doors to the train station. If we had missed our train it would have take another 3 hours for the next one to take us home. We thought we were going to get there in time to stop for a Philadelphia cheese steak, but as you see we did not have enough time.

Our Home church took up a love offering last month and Sunday, Aug 5th, they prayed and sent us off because we will be presenting at another church the week we are on the bike trip. We are so thankful for all of their love, support, and prayers.

The 6-13th we were visiting family in Maine.  We went swimming at a quarry, tubing, knee boarding, and skiing. Needless to say, we got in some exercise.

The jump was 40 plus feet!

At the quarry with the Cousins!

When we got back from Vacation we had 4 days left to plan out all the last minute details...
Monday we biked to Target to buy a map to put up at church with our route on it.We took a bike route to Target that was painted just for bikes and people to walk on! Our own personal road!
Today, Tuesday, Tommy and I put the map together and traced out approximate how we are going from Cape May to High Point. It is the blue line in the center of the map! It is a rough estimate because it is not zoomed in enough to see all of the roads we will be taking on the bikes so if anyone wants to join us, just give us a call!! :)
